Description: This video was a surprise, full of tenderness and an uncommon situation. It happened in front of my eyes and I captured it.
Iran is a country ruled under an oppressive government. People live under pressure. There is a large difference between private and public life.
I filmed the scene and through that, a paradoxical situation was created between: the image that I had as a westerner of Iran and the reality that I lived.
Editing the video I wanted to accentuate the dualism of war - game. The West always shows a negative image of Islamic countries. How many manipulated pictures have we seen of this place? A common picture is armed conflicts. They exist, but there are other images unpublished for the West.

Synopsis: Snowball fight.

Format: Video DV PAL

Description: Confronted with the question of “identity and existence”, I chose to establish it in my country of birth, Spain, where I had never lived. This situated me in a position of “being and not being”, removed from what I lived and saw, but in a familiar environment. A foreign Spaniard.

Synopsis: To submerge oneself in a universe so familiar and so distant. To live mutations of identity, space and language related to the discovery of one’s own culture. To find the unknown in the known. To dominate the maternal language and to feel a stranger to it. To merge in the environment and feel out of place. Finally to belong only to the present moment. To always be on the edge, and perpetually question «the origin».

NEW YORK (2001)

Duration: 12’20’’

Play fragment: 35’’

Format: Video DV PAL

Description: The Summer 2000 before leaving for New York, I worked in a psychiatric center as an assistant nurse. This experience provoked in me a curiosity to ask myself how a person with a mental disease perceives.
In this video there are 5 sequences in which I search to bring together the loss of references, other degrees of perception, curiosity and absurdity, the frontier between real and unreal.

Synopsis: Sometimes the most simple and ordinary things can look strange or unreal. This sensation can develop until one loses references. This is when I find myself on the frontier «between two» (real-unreal). My perception of the world is altered, everything is possible, and everything has to be reconsidered. And it is in this moment when I live a true sensation of liberty.
